18.06.2010

Regional elimination rounds of the republican contest for talented youth Kelajak Ovozi wrapped up.

The annual project covered over 71,000 boys and girls throughout the country this year. Elimination rounds were held for two weeks on district and regional level with participation of representatives of the public council including known figures of science, culture and art.

Contest participants from 15 to 25 years old demonstrated their skills and talents in the sphere of design and architecture, information technologies, rationalization proposals and engineering products, traditional and applied arts, literature and political essays.

The Tashkent round of the contest on 15 June crowned all regional rounds. The competition has become severe this year, and jury selected nominees in three stages: selection of projects, district round and city round. Thus, 4,000 nominees out of 9,715 applied reached the city round. Only 15 of them – one in each direction – received the right to take part in the republican round that would traditionally gather all regional winners in Tashkent in December.

“Participants make us happy and surprise us with their interesting and important projects this year,” says Karima Norkulova, pro-rector, Technical University of Uzbekistan, the jury member in the nomination information technologies, rationalization proposals and engineering products. “Most importantly is that the majority of products are of practical and applied character. They can be implemented in certain economy sectors. This evidences of the desire of the young people to make their real contribution into the development of specific kinds of production, economy and country in the whole.”

The prestige of the contest is growing year after year. This results not only in the dynamics of the growth of the number of participants but also in their training quality. Organizers of the Kelajak Ovozi contest continue improving the selection process rendering every support to the brightest participants. They will arrange master classes and meetings with the specialists for winners of regional rounds to raise the level of designed projects and products of finalists and prepare them for professional presentation in the republican round. The winner awarding ceremonies in regional rounds will be conducted in the form of youth conferences where participants will defend their projects and present their creative work.
