"Korean and Uzbek people have a lot in common", said the Director of Turkish-Korean Association for Cultural Exchange (Republic of Korea) Hvan Gyu In in an interview with BVV Business Report. In particular, he spoke about the aims of his current visit.
"The visit is related to the preparation for the first academic conference "The Culture of New Great Silk Road 2006" to be held on 27 June-1 July in Tashkent," said Hvan Gyu In. "This forum will become one of the largest forums conducted by the association in Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. That's why it is our honour to organize the event together with the Arts Academy of Uzbekistan."
In the framework of the conference scheduled for 27 June, a symposium of specialists in literature "Myths. Nations. Literature" will be conducted at the National Institute of Art and Design named after Behzod. Poets, writers, and critics of different scientific facilities of the participating countries will participate. Simultaneously, a presentation of the anthology of famous poets will be held.
At the end of the day, a concert entitled "New International Silk Road – Dances and Music" will be conducted at the State Academic Bolshoy Theatre Named after Alisher Navoi.

"Wide roads and big parks of Tashkent are well taken care of and neat. Having visited Uzbekistan several times, I made sure for myself that this country has a great potential," said the Director of the Association. "The people of Uzbekistan are hospitable, friendly and are ready to help you with everything. During my state here I constantly came across the thought that our nations have a lot in common and are close, particularly from the viewpoint of the attitude towards cultural traditions and people that make up a solid foundation for creativity and progress."
"I visited Uzbekistan for the first time last year. Since then I have been to this country eight times. This is primarily related to the activity of our association. Since Uzbekistan is located in the heart of the Great Silk Road, in terms of cultural exchange, for several centuries it traditionally performed the functions of the bridge of friendship and cooperation between the nations of different countries. The culture, art and literature of our nations followed their way of historical development along this ancient caravan road.
Understanding the importance of Uzbekistan's location in the center of the Silk Road, we are intending to continue to put all of our efforts in the future to further develop bilateral relations not only in the economic sphere, but also in the field of culture.
We are very glad that we succeeded in establishing strong friendly relations with the Arts Academy of Uzbekistan and its facilities. We personally witnessed that only highly professional specialists work in these organizations, whose invaluable experience has a special importance for their South Korean colleagues and professors.
I would like to note that during a relatively short period of time (two years) of the existence of the Forum of Culture and Art of Uzbekistan Foundation, whose activity we followed with interest through the international media, the Foundation regularly organized large-scale campaigns and implemented interesting projects.
We were also impressed by the fact that cultural heritage of your nation is becoming known to the world population through the hard efforts of this institution. We hope that in the future, Korean-Uzbek cooperation will develop and strengthen friendship between our nations and serve the prosperity of our states. (UzReport.com)
