SEMINAR DISCUSSES TRENDS IN DEVELOPMENT OF MARKETING IN ICT

On November 23 Tashkent hosted a national seminar on "Current state and trends in the development of marketing in ICT" organized by the Uzbek Agency of Communication and Informatisation, the Centre for Scientific-Technical and Marketing Studies, and I-Teco Company (the sponsor of the seminar).

Among the participants were the representatives of the postal service, telecommunication and informatisation, and mobile operators, joint ventures operating in the ICT sphere, and Alskom Insurance Company.

The aim of the seminar was to provide opportunities to the participants to share information on the current condition, prospects and problems associated with the solution of the present and future priority marketing problems in the sphere of ICT. Reports were delivered on the current activity and plans of the specialists in marketing, operators providing postal communication, telecommunication and informatisation services.

Also, among the issues discussed were questions concerning the use of marketing in postal services in the countries with transition economies; the marketing activity of UzbekTelecom Company and the UzInfoCom Centre and the ways to its optimization; the tasks and the development of marketing services of the companies and specialized marketing centres, the performance of the works within the frame of the marketing programme at the Tashkent branch of Uzbekiston Pochtasi (Uzbekistan Post); the use of marketing in the pay phone services; the use of marketing in insurance as a stimulus to improve the insurance protection of the ICT entities of Uzbekistan; and the role of Internet in the implementation of marketing policies of enterprises.

Today, during the period of convergence of communication and informatisation services, it is hard to overestimate the role of ICT in satisfying the needs of the community commonly referred to as the Global Information Space. The process of its formation is quite complicated, as it is taking place during the age of informational revolution.

There is a direct link between the growth of the population, the economy and technology. That is why in order to forecast the development of the ICT sphere, it is necessary to foresee the changes in the economy and the growth of the population. The 21st century is the age of global change in the sphere of ICT, the age of transition from industrial to informational society.

Today economic processes run much faster. That is why one of the most important forms of assistance to the real business is improvement of its informational support. Undoubtedly, the use of marketing is extremely important for this.

In the conditions of the fast convergence of telecommunication networks and services, economic processes run much faster and more intensively. That is why one of the most important ways to develop the business process is to use marketing.

According to the results of the seminar, recommendations were provided on increasing the efficiency of the activity of marketing services (marketing departments) of companies in the market conditions in the sphere of ICT, on stimulating the development of marketing services, and improvement of the provision of high quality services meeting the requirements of the consumers.

ECO FORUM HAILS MEDIA COVERAGE YET LASHES PROFESSIONALISM

The environmental media forum “The press in regional and global environmental challenges” took place in the nation’s capital of Tashkent, the newspapers wrote. The International organization for ecology and health “Ecosan” is reported to have organized the event, according to the papers.

The senators, the lawmakers at the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the staff members of ministries and agencies, the non-state organizations, editors-in-chief and journalists at the national newspapers, state and non-state television and radio stations in town, the news agencies, Internet editions, scholars of environmental studies, as well as the students of specialized faculties at the Tashkent-based higher educational institutions participated at the forum.

The mass media actively covers the measures now undertaken in the country to preserve the environment and public health. The newspapers print more stories along with more programs on such topic are going on air.

At the same time, the delegates to the forum have said that the coverage of environmental problems lacks professionalism, while the journalists pay less attention to the deep analysis of the linkage between environmental, economic and social problems.

The opportunities available to mass media are underused to propagate the healthy way of life and prevent various diseases. Environmental check-ups are rarely undertaken with participation of journalists, although such method of bringing the environmental issue to the attention of public and decisionmakers is said to be very effective.

BUILDEXPO UZBEKISTAN 2007 OPENS IN TASHKENT

International exhibition of construction materials and equipment, as well as doors, windows, heating and air conditions systems BuildExpo Uzbekistan 2007 opened at InterContinental Hotel in Tashkent on 21 of November.

The event was organized by the TNT Productions Inc (US) company in close cooperation with the ADG Trade Fairs (Turkey). The exhibition is being conducted with the support of the UzKurilishMateriallari (Uzbek Construction Materials) Company and the Government of Turkey.

About 40 companies from seven different countries are participating in the event. The sections of the exhibition include construction and finishing materials; construction technology and transportation; wooden and metal prefabricated elements; aluminum, plastic and wooden windows and doors; wall surface sheets, false ceilings, partitions; plumbing supplies, ceramic ware, tiles; glue, varnish, paints; facade coatings; heating systems, distributors, thermostats and metering equipment; air conditioning and ventilation systems; valves, pipes, equipment and metering equipment; bathroom, shower stall, sauna and pool equipment; electric appliances.

TNT Productions Inc Company (CLUA) is specialized in the organization of exhibitions and production of television programmes. Over the past twenty years the company has organized over 200 specialised events nearly in all large cities of the US. Since 1987 the company has conducted over 100 specialised exhibitions in the countries of CIS. Among them are Russia (Novosibirsk, Ekaterinburg), Kazakhstan (Astana, Almaty, Karaganda), Uzbekistan (Tashkent), Kyrgyzstan (Bishkek), Armenia (Yerevan), Georgia (Tbilisi).

ADG Trade Fairs Company was set up in 1997 and began its operation as an international exhibition organizer in Turkey. In 2004, the company received a certificate allowing it to organize national Turkish expositions at the exhibitions held in other countries. Today, ADG has conducted six exhibitions in the spheres of construction, food industry and automobile sector in Turkey and six exhibitions devoted to the agricultural and construction industries in Russia, Georgia, Uzbekistan and Syria.

NUMBER OF REGISTERED LEGAL ENTITIES WAS 465,300 AS OF 1 OCT

According to the data of the Uniform State Business Register, as of 1 October 2007, the number of registered legal entities was 465,300, of them 429,900 (92.4% of the total registered enterprises) were operating.

The greatest number of enterprises and institutions was registered in agriculture (59.9% of total registered enterprises), trade and catering (14.3%), industry (6.1%) and construction (4.1%), according to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

Out of the total number of registered enterprises the share of enterprises with non-state form of ownership was 93% of which 60.2% are private and dekhkan farms, 22.7% - private enterprises, 0.9% - enterprises with participation of foreign capital, 0.4% - joint-stock companies.

In January-September 2007 the number of newly registered enterprises and institutions was 55,400. Their significant number was registered in Ferghana region (13.3% of the total registered enterprises in the republic), Samarkand region (12.2%) and Andijan region (10.9%).

In the sectoral structure of the newly registered enterprises and institutions 54.7% fall to the share of agriculture, 14.6% - trade and catering, 5.7% - industry.

ASAKA CAR PLANT AFFILIATE COMPANIES OPT FOR QUALITY PRODUCE

The Uzbek-South Korean Joint Venture “UzKoji” in Khanabad District of the Andijan Province manufactures the high-quality wire winding for the car plant “UzDaewooAuto” based in Asaka.

At the moment, 652 people are employed with the said enterprise in two shifts. More than forty them have gone the special training in South Korea, the Uzbekistan National News Agency Russian-language website reported.

This year the joint venture is scheduled to manufacture 170,000 units of products for the Asaka-produced cars, according to the report.

UZBEKISTAN AMPUTEE NATIONAL TEAM BECAME WORLD CHAMPIONS

Uzbek amputee football players became world champions, in the world football championship among amputees which was held in Turkish city of Antalya where the strongest football teams took part.

In Turkey the Uzbek football players have proved, that they are the first in the world. Football team of Uzbekistan won over the current world champion – football team of Brazil with the score 4:2, Sierra Leone - 3:0, Iran - 3:1, Nigeria - 3:0 and Ukraine - 2:0, that has provided to the team the first place in the group and the permission to a quarterfinal.

In the next round our compatriots have beaten representatives of the African continent - football players of Liberia with the score 7:1, host country - team of Turkey with the score 2:1, and at the final the team of Russia with the score 2:1. Forward of our team Abdujamil Shukurov, hammered eight goals in eight plays and got the title «the best striker of the championship».

It is worth to note, that this is not the first victory of our amputee team this year. Courageous compatriots became owners of the main prize in competitions for a cup of the Commonwealths of Independent States (CIS) among amputees which took place in September in Nizhniy Novgorod (Russia).

On 22 November the national team of Uzbekistan who won the title of the world football champions among amputees has returned home. Representatives of different ministries, associations, Football federation, as well as mass media and public warmly welcomed the champions at Tashkent airport.

INTERNATIONAL PHARMACEUTICAL EXHIBITION HAS BEEN HELD

The manufacturers of the medicines who have taken part in the 3rd International Specialized Exhibition PharmExpoUzbekistan 2007 are intended to accept active participation in the development of the pharmaceutical market of Uzbekistan.

- This exhibition passes for the third time, - says the manager on public relations of the company “ZarEXPO” which have organized the exhibition, Nodira Ahmedkulova. - The number of companies presenting the production on the exhibition increases every year, more participants become manufacturers. If at the previous exhibitions distributors prevailed, but this year their quantity makes a half of all participants. Apparently, next year the quantity of manufacturers will make 80 % of all participants of our exhibition. In a word, heightened interest of world manufacturers of medicines to the pharmaceutical market of Uzbekistan is observed.

- In Uzbekistan a good infrastructure promoting productive work on the pharmaceutical market is created, - notes the sales manager of the SC “Altayvitaminy” (Altai Vitamins) Ekaterina Asedova. - In particular, some annual specialized exhibitions take place, which promote saturation of the domestic market with the qualitative medical preparations. Our company engaged in manufacture of vitamins and medical products and only in its first day of work at the exhibition it has signed ten contracts on delivery of medical preparations to Uzbekistan.

- The Uzbek market of medical products is rather perspective. So far in drugstores of your country there are no preparations made by the companies of Asian countries, incorporated by association GreenGateTrading FZE, - speaks the head of its representative in Uzbekistan Ahmad Vahid Nazarer. - Currently our product, which by the quality does not concede to the best analogues in the world, is registered for reception of the sanction to realization of medical products in the market of Uzbekistan. And we have declared our intentions of development of relations with the partners from Uzbekistan by participating in this exhibition.

At the same time plans of manufacturers of medical production from Uzbekistan are not less grandiose aspiring to acquire the consumer not only in internal, but also in the international market. “We have signed large contracts on delivery of production not only with the domestic trading network companies, but also with the partners from neighboring countries, - tells the representative of the Limited Liability Company “SarbontexSTM” Etiborhon Kichinova. - Negotiations with companies from Russia and Ukraine are carried on. Recently we have received quality recognition of our production from countries of the European Union. We hope that shortly bandage and medical cotton wool produced by our enterprise will find its buyer in these countries as well.

INFO CENTER AT COLLEGE REFURBISHED, LATEST TECHNOLOGY INSTALLED

In keeping with the Resolution of President “On providing the population with information and library services” of June 20, 2006 the enlightenment facilities throughout the nation have been bettered with their maintenance being constantly improved.

Thus, one of such facilities is the recently reconstructed information and resource center at the Karshi medical professional college. It has been equipped with the latest information technology worth UZS 27 million, the report by Uzbekistan National News Agency Russian-language website has said.

“Our stocks of books make up over 43,2 thousand titles of literature and textbooks,” – the college principal Mukhammadi Tilavov is reported to have said, “at the moment, thanks to the Internet access, we have gained all conditions to use the stocks of the large foreign libraries”.

Also, the “Active reader” club has been established at the center. More than 200 residents of the nearby local neighborhood areas are now attending it, according to the report.

At the moment, the center is holding the cultural and educational events timed to the forthcoming celebration of the 15th anniversary of the country’s Constitution.

MAHALLA, THE CRADLE OF TRADITIONS

Such was the motto of the Republican stage of the contest “I study the history of my mahalla” which has been held in Tashkent, announced by the Aksakals Council of Uzbekistan and “Mahalla” Fund in association with the Central Council of “Kamolot” Youth Public Movement. Its participants became the winners of regional competitions from the Republic of Karakalpakstan, provinces and the city of Tashkent

Every mahalla has its own history. According to the chief specialist of the Republican Fund “Mahalla” Gavhar Alimova:

“The main objective of the competition is to attract as many people as possible, especially the youth, to the study of the history of their mahalla, in which our national values have formed and become stronger, to the revival of the centuries-old heritage of our ancestors and also to foster in them love for their country.

According to the rules of the competition, participants have shown the history of the mahalla, its traditions and customs, achievements for years of independence by means of the dramatized performances with the use of musical, art and video-performances of their teams.

As the results of the competition stand, the first place went to the mahalla of Al-Bukhari of the Karakul district of Bukhara province. The second place went to the community “Istikbol” of the Sarasiya mahalla of the Shahrisabz district of the Kashkadarya province. The third place has been awarded to the teams of “Yssaviy avlodlari” (Descendants of Yassaviy) of the mahalla “Suzuk Ota” of the Shayhantohur district of Tashkent, “Kadriyat” (Value) of the mahalla Yangi Bog of Marghilan, “Minor” of the mahalla of Mirzo Ulugbek of the Djarkurgan district of the Surkhandarya province, as well as mahalla “Yangi Hayrobod” of Samarkand.

Diplomas and prizes have been handed over to the winners by the Republican Management of the Fund “Mahalla” and the Central Council of the Youth Public Movement “Kamolot”.
